The Federal High Court in Abuja on Friday adjourned the arraignment of Jimoh Yisawu, former managing director of Warri Refining and Petrochemical Company Limited, to July 20 after proceedings could not go ahead due to the absence of the presiding judge.
The case, before Justice Inyang Ekwo, was stalled because the judge was away on an official engagement.
Yisawu is facing an eight-count money laundering charge filed by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), which alleges that he laundered public funds and used part of the proceeds to purchase treasury bills for his personal benefit.
The charge, marked FHC/ABJ/CR/361/2026 and filed on June 22 by EFCC counsel Ekele Iheanacho, SAN, lists Yisawu as the sole defendant.
According to the anti-graft agency, the alleged offences contravene Section 18(2)(b) of the Money Laundering (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022, and are punishable under Section 18(3) of the Act.
The adjournment comes two days after the EFCC arraigned Ahmed Dikko, former managing director of Port Harcourt Refining Company Limited, before the same court on a 12-count money laundering charge.
Dikko pleaded not guilty to the charges, and Justice Ekwo fixed October 12 for the commencement of trial.
