Nigel Farage, the leader of the populist party Reform UK, and leader of United Kingdom’s (UK) anti- immigration political movement has announced that he is resigning as a Member of Parliament.
The parliamentary standards watchdog is currently investigating the matter, alongside additional complaints regarding separate donations and property interests.
He intends to stand for re-election immediately, allowing the public to decide whether he should remain in parliament following a scandal over the alleged non-disclosure of a £5 million gift.

Farage stated that he had been considering resignation over the weekend due to intense media scrutiny regarding allegations that he failed to declare the multi-million-pound donation from a billionaire cryptocurrency investor.
Farage strongly defended his actions ahead of the planned by-election in his constituency of Clacton.
“I followed the rules,” Nigel Farage, Leader of Reform UK, said in a statement. “It is now clear the establishment will stop at nothing to hurt Reform.”
The controversy deepened over the weekend following reports that a convicted fraudster had financed Farage’s security and social media staff shortly before his election to parliament. If the House of Commons watchdog finds Farage guilty of a serious breach of rules, he could face suspension.
By resigning proactively, Farage aims to bypass the standard disciplinary process and secure a fresh democratic mandate directly from his constituents.
