RCCG Region 59 to host skills, entrepreneurship seminar amid rising job market pressures

The Redeemed Christian Church of God’s Region 59 will hold a career and business development seminar this month, adding to a growing list of church-backed programmes aimed at cushioning members and the public against Nigeria’s unemployment and skills gap.

The event, themed “Empower Your Future: Skills for Business and Career Success,” is scheduled for July 11 at the region’s headquarters, Victory Chapel, in Magodo, Lagos. It is organised by the region’s Corporate Social Responsibility Department.

Pastor Kunle Eyitemi, the programme coordinator, said the seminar responds to pressures reshaping the labour market, including automation and a widening demand for entrepreneurial skills.
“The future belongs to individuals who intentionally acquire the right skills, knowledge and mindset,” Eyitemi said in a statement. He described the seminar as a platform meant to help participants unlock opportunities and create value rather than a one-off lecture series.

Pastor Adewole Ajayeoba, the pastor-in-charge of RCCG Region 59, said the programme is open beyond the church’s membership, framing it as accessible to attendees of any faith or background. He called on undergraduates, graduates, entrepreneurs and professionals to register, saying the format pairs motivational content with tools attendees can apply immediately in their careers or businesses.

The organisers are positioning the seminar for a broad segment of the workforce: students nearing graduation, early-career professionals looking to upskill, business owners weighing expansion or diversification, and workers trying to stay competitive as digital tools reshape traditional roles.

Speakers billed for the event include Pastor Ibukun Awosika, Dr. Bayo Olugbemi, Chukwudi Ubosi, Dr. Temitope Olanre-Alade, Dr. Kehinde Oyeleke, Afioluwa Mogaji and Morayo Afolabi-Brown, among others. Sessions are expected to cover entrepreneurship, employability, leadership, digital innovation, personal branding and access to funding, alongside mentorship and networking components.
The seminar adds to a pattern of Nigerian faith institutions expanding into workforce development, an area traditionally dominated by government agencies and private training firms.

Nigeria’s unemployment rate and underemployment among young graduates have remained persistent policy concerns, prompting churches, mosques and other community organisations to step into skills training as a complement to formal education and government programmes.

For RCCG, one of Nigeria’s largest Pentecostal denominations with congregations spanning the country and a large diaspora footprint, the initiative also reflects a broader strategic push into social outreach programming that extends past religious services. Region 59, based in Lagos, has run similar community-facing initiatives through its CSR arm in the past.

Organisers are encouraging early registration and asking attendees to bring colleagues, friends and family, saying the event is designed to combine practical instruction with networking access to established business leaders and career professionals.
