Kaduna State Government has reaffirmed its commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and attracting investments, declaring that ongoing reforms have positioned the state as one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations.

The Governor, Uba Sani, said that the state’s efforts to improve transparency, simplify government processes, strengthen institutions and promote private sector growth have already yielded significant results, including Kaduna’s ranking as the second-best state in Nigeria in the latest Subnational Ease of Doing Business Assessment.

The governor made the remarks on Thursday at the technical session of the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council (PEBEC) Nationwide Town Hall and State Engagement Tour held in Kaduna.

Represented by the Commissioner for Business, Innovation and Technology, Patience Fakai, Uba Sani said Kaduna’s reform agenda is closely aligned with President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms aimed at stimulating growth and improving the investment climate across the country.

“In the most recent Subnational Ease of Doing Business Assessment, Kaduna State was ranked as the second-best performing state in Nigeria. While we are proud of this achievement, we recognize that reform is a continuous journey and not a destination,” the governor said.

He explained that the state remains focused on enhancing investor confidence through reforms in regulatory processes, harmonisation of levies and fees, commercial dispute resolution, digital governance and investor experience management.

According to him, the PEBEC engagement provides an opportunity for learning, peer review and collaborative problem-solving that will further strengthen Kaduna’s reform implementation efforts.

“The lessons and recommendations from today’s sessions will undoubtedly strengthen our reform implementation efforts and help us sustain our position as one of Nigeria’s leading investment destinations,” he added.

Governor Sani urged participants to actively engage in the workshop and take advantage of the expertise provided by the PEBEC team.

In her address, the Director-General of PEBEC, Zahrah Mustapha Audu, said sustainable economic transformation can only be achieved through strong collaboration between the Federal Government and the states.

She noted that Kaduna possesses significant competitive advantages, including its strategic location as the gateway to Northern Nigeria, extensive transportation infrastructure, vibrant agricultural sector, growing industrial base, quality educational institutions and abundant human capital.

According to her, emerging opportunities in manufacturing, logistics, technology, renewable energy and agribusiness have strengthened Kaduna’s position as one of Nigeria’s most attractive investment destinations.

“The future of Nigeria’s economy will not be determined in Abuja alone. It will be determined in states like Kaduna—through the strength of local economies, the competitiveness of businesses, the quality of infrastructure, the effectiveness of institutions, and the confidence that investors have in the opportunities before them,” Audu said.

She added that Kaduna’s rail and road connectivity, industrial estates and commitment to business reforms provide a strong foundation for sustained economic growth and investment attraction.

However, the PEBEC Director-General observed that the challenge was not the absence of opportunities but ensuring that those opportunities are effectively packaged, communicated and supported by policies that inspire investor confidence.

She urged the Kaduna State Government to deepen ongoing reforms, strengthen infrastructure development and continue supporting private sector growth to maintain its competitive edge and attract more investments.
