David Mark, National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has assured party members, candidates and supporters that the party will be on the ballot for the 2027 general elections despite a Federal High Court judgement ordering its deregistration.
Mark gave the assurance, on Monday in Abuja, while receiving a delegation of ADC candidates, describing the ruling as a temporary setback that would be overturned through the judicial process.
The former Senate President argued that the judgement was controversial because the matter was already before the Court of Appeal, which he said had earlier granted a stay of proceedings and fixed October 27, 2027, for further hearing.
A Federal High Court in Abuja had earlier directed the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to deregister the ADC alongside Accord Party, Action Alliance (AA), Action Peoples Party (APP) and Zenith Labour Party (ZLP).
Reacting to the development, Mark urged party faithful not to panic, insisting that the party’s legal team was already taking steps to challenge the verdict.
“The ADC will be on the ballot in 2027. I assure all our candidates, members and supporters that this temporary setback will be overcome through the judicial process,” he said.
He added that the party remains committed to strengthening democracy and providing Nigerians with a credible political alternative ahead of the 2027 general election.
