….announces second edition of its Mega Music Festival
The Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG) has announced the second edition of its Mega Music Festival, combining large-scale worship and prayer with an ambitious youth empowerment programme aimed at preparing more than 100,000 young Nigerians for the future workforce.
The event, themed “A New Season,” will take place on June 12 at Tafawa Balewa Square (TBS), Lagos, where organisers expect more than 200,000 worshippers from across Nigeria and beyond.
Leading gospel ministers scheduled to perform include Nathaniel Bassey, Dunsin Oyekan, Yinka Alaseyori, Bidemi Olaoba and Gospel Force.
Worship and National Prayer Gathering
Speaking during a press briefing, Babasola Olukoya, the RCCG’s Special Assistant to the General Overseer on Youth Affairs, described the programme as more than a music concert.
“This gathering is not just a music festival or another event on the calendar. It is a divine appointment designed as a night of intense prayers, heartfelt worship, prophetic declarations and thanksgiving unto God,” he said.
According to organisers, the programme will focus on prayers for Nigeria’s economy, education, security, families and innovation sectors.
The choice of Tafawa Balewa Square was deliberate, Olukoya said, noting that the venue played a historic role during Nigeria’s independence celebrations in 1960.
Holding the event on Democracy Day, he added, represents a symbolic declaration of hope and transformation for the nation.
Senior ministers including Johnson Funso Odesola and Johnson Oluwatomisin Kalejaiye are expected to lead prayers, while RCCG General Overseer Pastor Enoch Adeboye will pronounce a blessing and prophetic declaration over Nigeria.
Free Tech Training for the Future Workforce
Alongside the worship programme, RCCG unveiled the Young Adult and Youth Tech Fellowship, a free four-month virtual training initiative designed to equip young Nigerians with technology skills.
The programme, organised in partnership with Reach4Christ, aims to train over 100,000 participants. Training areas include Artificial Intelligence, Cybersecurity, Software Development, Product Development, Data Analysis and Digital Innovation.
Participants will attend classes three times weekly, spending six hours each week over a 16-week period.
Olukoya said the fellowship reflects the church’s commitment to preparing youths spiritually and professionally.
“Our mission is to equip young people spiritually, mentally and professionally, giving them the tools required to access Global Workforce Opportunities, create solutions, build enterprises and contribute meaningfully to national development,” he said.
Logistics, Transportation and Security
Jacob Obaru, RCCG national youth pastor, said extensive preparations have been made to accommodate expected attendees.
Free transportation will be provided from multiple locations across Lagos and Ogun states, including dedicated bus and rail arrangements. Organisers also disclosed plans to utilise volunteer drivers and ride-hailing partnerships to improve access to the venue.
More than 5,000 volunteers have been deployed across security, logistics, sanitation, medical support, ushering and protocol teams. “This is not just a music concert. This is a prophetic gathering that will open the heavens over our nation, over families and over individuals,” Obaru said.
The Mega Music Festival began with its first edition, “New Dimension,” while the upcoming Lagos event is themed “A New Season.” Organisers said the third edition, tagged “New Dawn,” is scheduled to be held in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.
