Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State, has dismissed concerns that recent defections by some party members could weaken the APC ahead of the August 15 governorship election.
Speaking with journalists in Osogbo on Sunday, Oyintiloye described the defections as a normal occurrence during election periods, insisting that the party remains strong and well-positioned to reclaim power in the state.
His remarks came amid the exit of several APC members to other parties in the state.
According to Oyintiloye, the APC’s strength lies in its extensive grassroots network and loyal membership spread across wards, polling units and local government areas in the state.

“The APC in Osun is bigger than any individual. Our structure remains intact, our supporters are energised, and the people are still firmly behind the party,” he said.
He added that the emergence of Asiwaju Munirudeen Bola Oyebamij as the party’s governorship candidate has boosted confidence among members and attracted growing support across the state.
Oyintiloye urged party leaders and members to remain united, intensify grassroots mobilisation and address grievances that may trigger further defections, stressing that every member has a role to play in securing victory at the polls.
