Capital Hotel Plc, owners of Abuja Continental Hotel, is manifesting a new era of premium hospitality in Nigeria through an aggressive programme of strategic investment and asset modernisation at Abuja Continental Hotel, its flagship property.

Ravi Bachu, managing director, Capital Hotel Plc, disclosed the development to the shareholders at the company’s 45th Annual General Meeting held at the hotel.

He described 2025 as a year of purposeful transformation, where disciplined capital deployment was used to reposition the hotel as a world-class destination for business, government, and leisure travellers.

Bachu noted that at the heart of the transformation is a comprehensive refurbishment and modernisation agenda designed to align the Abuja Continental Hotel with evolving international standards.

According to him, the completed refurbishment of the swimming pool, alongside finalised designs for a new pool bar, represents a clear push to expand and enhance leisure offerings for guests seeking both relaxation and networking in a sophisticated setting.

The managing director also outlined the soft refurbishment works underway in the Tower 2 of the property, where interior upgrades are creating seamless, contemporary aesthetic across guest rooms, and reinforcing the hotel’s reputation for refined comfort.

According to him, the property’s exterior is also receiving a major uplift through ongoing cladding works on the hotel towers, improving both visual appeal and structural resilience.

He disclosed further to the shareholders that in the food and beverage space, the Papillon Restaurant is being reimagined to deliver a modern dining experience that blends global culinary trends with the warm, and welcoming ambience the hotel is known for.

On infrastructure front, he informed that Capital Hotel Plc has completed critical works on the banquet kitchen, LKCC partition, waterproofing, and kitchen facilities, while advancing installations such as guest lifts, lightning arresters, and calories to improve water heating efficiency.

The newly completed Sanni Abacha Gate, he pointed out, now provides a more secure and prestigious entrance, improving traffic flow and guest first impressions.

Bachu disclosed that major contracts for civil and mechanical works on Tower 3 have also been awarded, underscoring the company’s long-term commitment to asset revitalisation.

He noted that the ongoing solar energy initiative marks a decisive step toward energy efficiency and sustainability, reducing reliance on conventional power while strengthening operational resilience.

“These investments reflect the Board’s unwavering commitment to preserving and enhancing the long-term value of our flagship asset, ensuring the Abuja Continental Hotel remains the benchmark for premium hospitality in Nigeria.

“The message to the market is clear: Abuja Continental Hotel is not just being maintained—it is being elevated to compete confidently on the global stage,” he said.
