Arne Slot says Mohamed Salah “deserves a big send-off” as the Liverpool forward edges closer to a return from injury ahead of his expected departure at the end of the season.

The Egyptian forward was forced off during last weekend’s 3-1 win over Crystal Palace, sparking fears he may have played his final game at Anfield.

However, Liverpool confirmed the 33-year-old sustained only a minor muscle injury and is expected to feature again before the campaign concludes.

“We expect him to be back in the final part of the season, but not for Sunday,” Slot said ahead of Liverpool’s clash with Manchester United. “In all ways, it’s a big relief that his injury is minor.

“And if there’s ever a player who deserves a big send-off, it’s definitely Mo.”

Salah has scored 257 goals in 440 appearances since joining Liverpool in 2017, placing him among the club’s all-time leading scorers behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt.

Despite a brief public disagreement with Slot earlier in the season, Salah quickly returned to the fold and remains a key figure as Liverpool push to secure a UEFA Champions League place.

With four games remaining, the Reds sit fourth in the Premier League, three points behind Manchester United and eight clear of sixth-placed Brighton, as they look to seal qualification for next season’s Champions League.
