His quality was evident in the Scottish Cup semi-final against St Mirren F.C., where he netted twice in extra time to help Celtic secure a place in the final.
Adepoju, a former Real Sociedad midfielder, praised Iheanacho’s resurgence and believes he still has a role to play at the international level.
“Kelechi has always been a very good player and a natural scorer who has done well over the years,” Adepoju said.
“Unfortunately, in recent years, it has not been easy for him, but I’m happy he is coming back and doing well at Celtic.
“I believe he can sustain this form. Experience matters, and if he continues like this and the national team handlers see him as worthy, then he can return.
“He has the ability to come back to the team.”
Iheanacho previously enjoyed successful spells with Manchester City and Leicester City before moving to Scotland.
Despite recurring hamstring issues, his recent performances have reignited discussions about a possible return to the Nigeria national team, with his experience and attacking quality seen as valuable assets.
