The FIFA World Cup 2026 is fast approaching, with stadiums across North America putting the finishing touches in place to welcome fans to world-class venues.
A total of 16 stadiums will host the tournament across the United States, Mexico and Canada. The venues are spread across 16 host cities, 11 in the United States, three in Mexico and two in Canada, marking the first time the World Cup will be staged by three nations.
The expanded competition will feature 48 teams and 104 matches, making it the largest edition in history. Of these, 78 games will be played in the United States, while Canada and Mexico will host 13 matches each.
Fans can expect action at globally recognised venues such as MetLife Stadium and Estadio Azteca, the latter set to become the first stadium to host matches at three different World Cups. Newer arenas like SoFi Stadium will showcase cutting-edge technology, offering immersive experiences through advanced screens, acoustics and fan-focused design.
Mexico will kick off the tournament in Mexico City, returning to a historic venue that hosted the opening matches and finals of the 1970 and 1986 editions. The host nation will play its group matches on home soil, with fixtures scheduled across Mexico City and Guadalajara.
Beyond football, these stadiums are designed as major entertainment hubs, combining large capacities, many exceeding 60,000 seats, with modern infrastructure to enhance the matchday experience.
