At least 12 passengers have been abducted by the Islamic State of West African Province terriorists (ISWAP) along the Damaturu-Biu road on Thursday, a source said.
This was contained in a statement issued by Samaila Ibrahim Kaigama, President of Borno South Youth Alliance (BOSYA), to journalists in Maiduguri on Friday.
According to him, the sad incident has brought deep distress for the families and loved ones of the victims and the southern part of Borno state.
“We woke up to the painful news of the reported kidnapping of 12 Southern Borno young men, predominantly from Biu.
“This development is deeply heartbreaking and distressing, especially for the families and loved ones of the victims who are now facing fear, uncertainty, and emotional pain. Our thoughts and prayers are with them during this difficult moment.
“Southern Borno has continued to suffer repeated tragedies caused by insecurity, while many communities remain vulnerable and neglected. It is painful that our people continue to experience such incidents without the urgent and coordinated response they deserve,”he said.
He urged people always to raise awareness, mobilise support, and advocate for action in times like these.
“We sincerely hope that elected leaders and public office holders, particularly those entrusted with representing Southern Borno at state and national levels, will rise to the occasion and take decisive steps toward securing the safe return of these young men, just as urgent attention is also needed in ongoing humanitarian concerns affecting our people,” he said.
