Toni Kroos is reportedly on the verge of a sensational return to Real Madrid, two years after retiring from professional football. However, the German will not be returning as a player but to take up a senior leadership role within the club.

Kroos retired in 2024 after a decade at Madrid, where he cemented his status as one of the club’s most decorated midfielders.
He made 465 appearances, scoring 28 goals and providing 99 assists, while winning six UEFA Champions League titles, four La Liga titles, multiple Copa del Rey trophies, and four UEFA Super Cups.
Since hanging up his boots, the 36-year-old has remained in Madrid, running his football academy and maintaining close ties with the club.
His strong relationship with club president Florentino Pérez is believed to be pivotal to the move, with Pérez reportedly leading efforts to bring him back.
Reports of internal unrest have emerged, and Kroos’s presence is seen as a move that could provide stability and leadership at a critical juncture.
While his exact role remains unclear, he is expected to take on responsibilities in sporting management or act as a bridge between the squad and the board.
