Tetracore Energy Group (TEG) has commissioned a new Auto Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) station in Uwusan, Benin City, Edo State, marking a further step in the company’s gas-powered mobility and downstream gas distribution operations in Nigeria.
The station has an installed capacity of 120,000 standard cubic metres per day (SCMD) and is designed to fuel up to 200 vehicles daily. It is expected to support mass transit systems, trucks, buses, and other commercial vehicles that run on CNG, while improving access to fuel for operators in the area.
Located to serve Benin City and nearby industrial and logistics routes, the facility forms part of Tetracore’s growing gas distribution network. The company said the station is positioned to meet demand across economic clusters where transport and industrial activity continue to grow.
The development aligns with Tetracore’s plan to expand a corridor-based gas infrastructure network. The company is deploying daughter stations connected to planned mother station capacity to create a linked system for gas supply and distribution. This approach is intended to support asset use, maintain supply levels, and provide a stable structure for revenue generation.
The Benin axis is seen as an area with rising demand from logistics operators, industrial users, and commercial fleets. Tetracore said this demand creates a base for steady utilisation of the station and supports long-term operations in the region.
For fleet operators and industrial users, the Uwusan station is expected to offer lower and more stable fuel costs when compared with conventional fuels. It also aims to improve energy access through regular gas supply and provide closer refuelling points for vehicles, which may reduce travel time and operating costs. In addition, the use of CNG supports efforts to reduce emissions in line with Nigeria’s regulatory direction.
The commissioning adds to Tetracore’s portfolio of CNG assets in other parts of the country, including Ogun State. The company said it continues to develop infrastructure that connects gas supply with end users in transport and industry.
Tetracore also confirmed that a dedicated CNG mother station for the Benin axis is under development. The facility is expected to come on stream in the coming months and will supply gas to daughter stations within the network. According to the company, this will increase compression capacity, support supply consistency, and improve the efficiency of distribution.
Speaking on the project, Olakunle Williams, President and Chief Executive Officer of Tetracore Energy Group, said: “This is a deliberate step in our strategy to scale gas-powered mobility across Nigeria. We are not simply deploying stations—we are building a resilient energy network that enables industries, transport operators, and businesses to transition to cleaner, more efficient fuel at scale.
“With the upcoming mother station, we are reinforcing supply assurance and positioning Benin as a critical node within our expanding gas distribution footprint.”
Tetracore Energy Group said it will continue to invest in infrastructure that links gas supply to demand, with the aim of supporting industrial activity and energy access across Nigeria.
