Yakubu Dogara, Speaker of the House of Representatives on Saturday called for intelligence sharing among all the security agencies in the bid to tackle terrorism in the country.

Dogara who gave the charge while reacting to the multiple bomb blasts in Kuje and Nyanya areas of Abuja, noted that physical force is not enough to defeat terrorism

The Speaker who expressed regret over the recurring cases of terrorist attack in some parts of the country, condemned Friday night’s bomb attacks in Kuje and Nyanya, which he described as “callous and saddening”.

“While it is not in doubt that our security agencies are winning the war on terror, these kind of attacks show that there is much work to do about intelligence gathering and sharing.

“Terrorism cannot be totally defeated with physical might as terrorists resort to different means to carryout horrible and monstrous acts as these.

“There should be more of inter-agency intelligence gathering and sharing which is the surest way to prevent any such attack.

“Nigerians should also be vigilant and security conscious and help the security agencies with information,” he urged.

The lawmaker who noted the bomb blasts have shattered the peace in and around Abuja for one year now, however condoled families of victims of these dastardly, heinous and babaric acts.

“With the successes being recorded by the military in the North East it has become apparent that Boko Haram is facing imminent defeat after six years of terror reign in our country.

“These well-coordinated and planned attacks were carried out to instill fear in the minds of the citizens.

“We condemn it in its totality as the handwork of evil-possessed minds. Nigerians cannot be cowed into caving in to terror.

“I commiserate with families of the victims, may the good Lord grant them the fortitude to bear the irreparable losses. I also pray God to grant quick healings and recovery to the injured,” Dogara said.

While calling on all Nigerians to perverse in their prayers for peace and stability in our nation, Dogara noted that “as people of faith, we all believe in the power of prayers and when we persist in prayers, God will surely answer us and give us victory over evil and bloodthirsty terrorists.”
