Mike Aondoakaa SAN, former Attorney General of the Federation, on Sunday urged Benue politicians to abandon politics of bitterness and acrimony, advocating for strategic partnerships to protect the state’s future.

Aondoakaa made this known during a solidarity visit to former Governor Samuel Ortom by his former appointees in Makurdi stated that he came in respect of the strategic partnership between Ortom and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation for a change in governance come 2027.

Aondoakaa prioritised human welfare and political longevity over party labels, warning that unless current leaders work together, they risk premature retirement from the political stage, the way things are going in the State.

He commended Ortom for his courage and humility, citing his own experience with the former Governor as evidence of his non-partisan approach in dealing with humanity.

Aondoakaa, who is a member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), disclosed how the SGF, Sen. Akume, supported him during his elevation to Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).

He also praised Ortom’s administration for patronising his rice factory and showcasing it to international diplomats for patronage

Addressing the current political climate, Aondoakaa expressed concern over a growing notion that some people believe that without them, Benue state will be no more.

He challenged appointees to return to their constituencies and preach a message of preservation, crediting Ortom for promoting non-violence and ensuring medical, burial expenses, and promotions were handled regardless of political affiliation when he was in power.

Aondoakaa noted that apart from the SGF, Ortom remains a central figure in Benue politics, saying nobody in the state can decide without involving him.

He warned his own party to be careful not to overlook Ortom’s influence, stressing the importance of working with leaders like Senator George Akume to ensure Benue remains in “good hands” come the 2027 elections.
