Manchester City players have pledged to refund the ticket costs for 374 fans who travelled to Norway for Tuesday’s shock 3-1 Champions League defeat against Bodø/Glimt.
Away tickets are priced at around £25, and City players will collectively reimburse approximately £9,357 to fans who made the long journey to the Arctic Circle for the group-stage fixture.

City captains Bernardo Silva, Rúben Dias, Erling Haaland and Rodri confirmed the decision in a joint statement, describing the gesture as “the least we could do” following a disappointing performance from Pep Guardiola’s side.
Speaking on behalf of the squad, the leadership group said:
“Our supporters mean everything to us. We know the sacrifice that our fans make when they travel across the world to support us home and away, and we will never take it for granted. They are the best fans in the world.
“We also recognise that it was a lot of travelling for the fans who supported us in the cold throughout a difficult evening for us on the pitch. Covering the cost of these tickets for the fans who travelled to Bodø is the least we can do.”
They added that the team is determined to respond positively in upcoming fixtures.
“We’re ready to fight on Saturday for our game against Wolves and then again next Wednesday when we face Galatasaray in front of our amazing fans at the Etihad.”
Kevin Parker, a representative of City’s Official Supporters Club (OSC), praised the gesture and highlighted the commitment of the club’s travelling fans.
“City fans will travel to the ends of the earth to support our team, and last night was no different in the Arctic Circle,” Parker said.
