to sanction those that failed

Accountant-General of the Federation (AGF), Ahmed Idris, said Wednesday that almost all the Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs), especially the revenue yielding ones, complied with the presidential directive to transit to the Treasury Single Account (TSA) as at the September 15 deadline.

But he further revealed that sanctions would be meted out to any erring MDA. A statement from his office noted that the AGF commended all MDAs who have complied.

Idris, while expressing satisfaction with the level of compliance, affirmed that the TSA had come to stay, that the compliance was an indication that Nigeria was at the threshold of a new era of transparent and accountable management of public finances.

“He thanked all the MDAs for their cooperation, assuring them and the general public of the preparedness to ensure a hitch-free implementation that will bring about the actualisation of the objective of the policy,” Kenechukwu Offie, head of press and public relations, noted in the statement.
