African visual platform Ninthgrid has closed out 2025 with a nationwide
photography campaign and an intimate end-of-year creative showcase, reaffirming its commitment to
Afrocentric storytelling, community, and creator-led collaboration.

The three-week photography campaign invited photographers across Nigeria to document their environments
and personal experiences from the year, creating a shared visual record of contemporary African life.

Through community activations and strategic partnerships, the campaign reached over 30,000 people nationwide and generated more than 300 image submissions from photographers across the country.

At the close of the campaign, Ninthgrid awarded a total of ₦500,000 in cash prizes to the top three photographers. The winners were formally celebrated at an end-of-year creative showcase in Lagos, where their work was exhibited and they received their prize cheques in the presence of fellow creatives, partners, and industry stakeholders.

Speaking on the initiative, Francis Odeyemi, Founder of Ninthgrid, emphasized the platform’s long-term
vision of building sustainable infrastructure for African visual creators.
“African stories deserve to be told by Africans, and they deserve platforms that respect both culture and craft.

At Ninthgrid, we are intentionally building systems that help photographers and visual creators be seen, trusted, and
fairly rewarded for their work,” he said.
The showcase welcomed over 100 attendees and featured curated exhibitions from selected creators,
alongside opportunities for networking, collaboration, and conversations around the future of African visual
storytelling.

Reflecting on the campaign’s impact, Tolu Olawumi, Campaign and Marketing Lead at Ninthgrid, highlighted the power of community-driven creative initiatives.

“This campaign showed what’s possible when creators feel supported and truly seen. Beyond the numbers, the
quality of submissions and the level of engagement reaffirm our belief in building platforms that centre African
creativity and real stories,” she said.

Ninthgrid is a visual marketplace and creative platform connecting African photographers and illustrators with
individuals, brands, and organizations in search of authentic Afrocentric visuals. Beyond image licensing, the
platform invests in creative campaigns, community initiatives, and offline experiences that expand visibility,
unlock opportunities, and support sustainable creative careers.

As Ninthgrid looks ahead, the platform plans to scale its creative campaigns and community-focused experiences, continuing its mission to champion African visual culture and the creators shaping its future.
