The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme Board has commenced the disbursement of ₦1,856,875,526.27 as terminal and death benefits to 728 retirees and relatives of deceased civil servants in the state.
Bilyaminu Shitu Aminu, the Executive Secretary of the Board, made this known while briefing beneficiaries at the Pension House on Monday in Dutse.

He explained that the payment covers gratuity, death benefits, and death pension balances. “A total of ₦1,546,000,171.79 will be paid to 607 retirees, while ₦289,793,204.10 will go to 96 relatives of civil servants who passed away while in active service. Additionally, a final batch of ₦21,082,150.38 will be disbursed to 25 retirees who passed away shortly after retiring,” he said.
Highlighting the scheme’s effectiveness, Shitu stated, “The Jigawa State and Local Governments Contributory Pension Scheme is the foremost pension scheme in the country, committed to timely payments for all retirees, including those who have died in service. This reflects the state government’s unwavering dedication to the welfare and financial security of its civil servants.”
The Executive Secretary extended heartfelt gratitude to Governor Umar Namadi for his steadfast support and transformative reforms since taking office.
He further revealed that the Namadi administration has injected billions of naira into the scheme, significantly enhancing its viability and instilling confidence among retiring civil servants.
Beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the timely disbursement, emphasising that it would help them meet financial obligations and improve their quality of life in retirement.
