Xymbolic, the company behind the ambitious Palm City Project, has taken steps to deepen its technical knowledge and strengthen partnerships for what is projected to be Nigeria’s largest community-owned oil palm estate network.

The leadership team, led by Chief Executive Officer, Mr. Olisa Umerah, and the Head of Agribusiness, recently visited two key players in Nigeria’s oil palm sector — the Nigerian Institute for Oil Palm Research (NIFOR) and Okomu Oil Palm Company Plc.

Speaking on the project’s vision, Mr. Umerah described Palm City as:
“A fusion of agriculture, real estate, and industry. Palm City is designed as a community-owned oil palm estate network, where individuals and communities share in the value chain, from planting to processing to profit. It is both a profitable investment and a community development initiative.”

Palm City is planned as a multi-location project across Nigeria, with structured oil palm plantations and modern processing mills at its core. These facilities will ensure that harvests are converted into market-ready and export-ready products, creating reliable revenue from produce sales and agro-processing. Importantly, part of the returns will be reinvested into local schools, healthcare, housing, and industrial growth.

During the tour, the team engaged Okomu officials on plantation operations, outgrower schemes, and large-scale processing strategies, while NIFOR provided guidance on agronomy practices, plantation establishment, and innovations driving the sector forward.

According to Mr. Umerah, Palm City is designed as a generational project:
“It delivers investor returns, creates livelihoods, and strengthens community infrastructure. Our goal is to show that agribusiness in Nigeria can be profitable, inclusive, and transformative.”

By combining lessons from leading institutions with a vision of shared prosperity, Xymbolic is positioning Palm City as a national model for community-owned agribusiness.
