…releases early web-only global access following UK expansion

African storytelling has taken another major leap onto the global stage as KAVA, the Nigerian-born streaming platform, officially launched in an all-star soiree in London, United Kingdom.

Backed by some of the most influential forces in Nollywood, the service enters the UK market with a bold promise: to give African films the same global accessibility and visibility as Hollywood. First unveiled in Lagos in July 2025, it is the brainchild of Kene Okwuosa, Group CEO of Filmhouse Group (FilmOne Entertainment, FilmOne Studios, Filmhouse Cinemas), and Chinaza Onuzo, CEO of Inkblot Productions — both industry titans who have redefined cinema culture, distribution, and production across Africa.

For its debut, audiences would gain exclusive early access via web on kava.tv, ahead of app’s availability in the coming weeks.

Over 30 Nollywood titles are already live, ranging from recent post-theatrical blockbusters to exclusive originals, with new releases added weekly.

The expansion reflects Nollywood’s increasing global influence. Recent box office hits produced and distributed by FilmOne Studios and Inkblot Productions have demonstrated the international appetite for Nigerian films, setting the stage for KAVA to become a true “home of African storytelling” for audiences worldwide.

With over 17 million Nigerians in the diaspora and growing African communities in the UK, Europe, and North America, the timing of the launch is strategic. Analysts suggest the UK debut could pave the way to position Nollywood as a global cultural export.
