About 3,690 Nigerians living in the United States might be sent back home as President Trump launches a new push against illegal immigrants.
A new report from US Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) shows exactly how many people from each country face deportation. As of November 24, 2024, more than 1.4 million non-citizens who don’t have legal status have been ordered to leave the US. Mexico has the most people facing deportation with 252,044, followed by El Salvador with 203,822 people.

ICE, which is in charge of protecting America’s borders from illegal immigration and crime, has already started taking action. Last Thursday, they arrested hundreds of migrants and flew some out of the country on military planes as Trump’s deportation plan began.
African immigrants, including Nigerians, could be next. Many Nigerians without legal status are worried about being deported, especially after Trump’s recent actions. On his first day as America’s 47th President, Trump signed several orders to make immigration rules stricter, including stopping automatic citizenship for babies born to illegal immigrants.
