The Delta commissioner for special duties, Tony Nwaka, has advised Delta residents living in flood prone areas of the state to vacate such areas for safer zones to avert any disasters.
Nwaka gave the advice in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) weekend in Asaba.
He said that the advice became necessary following the warning of impending flooding in many states of the federation, including Delta this year.
It would be recalled that the meteorological department of the Federal Government had earlier issued warnings on impending floods.
Nwaka urged the people living in flood prone areas to relocate now before the onset of heavy rains and the accompanying floods in order to avert the disaster which occurred last year.
