Women in Business: Sade Morgan

Sade Morgan is a lawyer, corporate affairs and communications manager with over 27 years’ experience of extensive legal practice in Nigeria, international in-house counsel and corporate affairs management roles with multinational FMCG companies at senior manager level and as a board member.

She specialises in regulatory compliance, internal and external communications, advocacy and engagement. Sade is a diplomatic communicator with a proven ability to develop winning teams.

Appointed Corporate Affairs Director, Nigerian Breweries Plc., (member of the HEINEKEN Group) in December 2018, Sade Morgan is responsible for promoting the company’s non-crisis stakeholder relations in furtherance of the company’s philosophy of ‘winning with Nigeria’.

A 1993 graduate of the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, her work experience spans several industries and markets in Nigeria, West Africa, Middle East, the United Kingdom and other parts of Europe. Starting out in legal practice, she worked with the firms of Adepetun, Caxton-Martins, Agbor & Segun and subsequently Aluko & Oyebode rising to Head, Intellectual Property Unit. She joined British American Tobacco (BAT) in 2003, and over a period of 11 years worked in various management roles and jurisdictions.

Seconded to BAT Middle East and North Africa in 2006, she shared EXCO responsibility for the strategic management of the 6 countries including the United Arab Emirates making up the Gulf Corporation Council (GCC) business unit. From 2008-2013, she covered the 25 BAT West Africa Area markets as Area Legal Director.

In 2013, Sade was seconded to the BAT company headquarters in the United Kingdom with Regulatory and Marketing oversight of the company’s 86 Eastern Europe, Middle East & African (EEMEA) country markets. She joined Nigerian Bottling Company Ltd, a member of Coca-Cola Hellenic Bottling BV in September, 2014 where as Legal, Public Affairs and Communications Director, she was responsible for the strategic and people management of the two consolidated functions of Legal and Public Affairs and Communications as a member of EXCO team and the company Code Compliance Officer.

Sade is a Prince II certified project manager with Executive Management certificates from the Institute of Management Development, Lausanne, Switzerland and the INSEAD, Fontainebleau France Business School.

She is a member of the Institute of Directors, the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations, WIMBIZ and the first Chairperson of the Food and Beverage Recycling Alliance (Nigeria). Married with three children, Sade enjoys table tennis, reading and is passionate about social sustainability.
