U.S Consulate supports Street Project Foundation’s creative youth boot camp

Street Project Foundation with support from the U.S Consulate in Lagos, Nigeria will be holding a three-week Creative Youth Boot Camp themed ‘Do what you love’. The camp is scheduled to take place from April through to May 2016 at The Brook, 6, Point Road, GRA, Apapa, Lagos.

The goal of this camp is to train one hundred young people from ages 16 to 25 years on life skills using Performing Arts as the tool for engagement. Street Project’s Director of Operations,EduvieOgoro stated, “ Registration has commenced in full force and interested participants should visit www.streetproject.org.ng/signup.php “ she also added “Shortlisted candidates will be auditioned afterwards as talent in different areas of the performing art is essential”

Rita Ezenwa-Okoro Street Project’s Lead Visionary acknowledged, “The essence of the Boot Camp is to close the educational gap that currently exists between young people from disadvantaged backgrounds and their counterparts. By tapping into the power of performance, communication skills, critical thinking skills and values can be developed amongst our youth.” After the boot camp is completed, it is expected that outstanding trainees will be placed on internships with Creative Organizations in Lagos, Nigeria.

Street Project Foundation since inception in 2008 has reached out to over a thousand young people living in urban slums of Lagos. This was achieved by providing them with platforms to showcase their talents, some of these young creative minds have gone on to build a career by doing the things they love. Scholarships and social amenities like water have also been provided to disadvantaged communities.
