Two Banks in Apapa are reportedly shutting down and evacuating their staff after the banks were set on fire.

A mob has reportedly set two banks on fire in Apapa, Lagos after a mobile policeman attached to the Diamond Bank branch on Creek Road allegedly shot dead three tanker drivers.

According to reports, the angry mob set the bank on fire after the management failed to release the security officer who was hiding inside the bank to them.

The Sterling Bank building next to the bank also caught fire, leading to banks in the area shutting down and evacuating their staff.

Trouble had reportedly started over the indiscriminate parking of trailers in front of the bank by the drivers.

The mob of over a hundred, mostly colleagues of the dead drivers, reportedly carried disused tires to set the bank on fire, targeting several computer sets, units of air conditioners, and ATM counters. Rioters were seen beating customers before the security officers came to arrest the situation.

Security operatives have been deployed to the area to put an end to the crisis.
