Nigeria’s President Bola Tinubu landed in Abu Dhabi, UAE yesterday for an environmental conference called Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week. He’s there because the UAE’s leader, Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, personally invited him.
Dada Olusegun, who works for President Tinubu as his Social Media Assistant, shared this news on X (formerly Twitter), saying:
“President Bola Ahmed Tinubu arrives in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, where he is received by Sheikh Shakhboot Nahyan Al Nahyan, Minister of State in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, UAE.”
The conference runs for a week, from January 12-18, and has a fancy name for its theme: “The Nexus of Next: Supercharging Sustainable Progress.” In simple terms, it’s a meeting where world leaders come together to talk about making the world more environmentally friendly while helping countries grow economically.

While there, President Tinubu will give a speech about what his government is doing to improve Nigeria, especially in areas like energy use, transportation, healthcare, and the economy. He’ll also meet with UAE leaders to build stronger relationships between the two countries and look for ways they can work together.
The meeting brings together all sorts of important people – government officials, business leaders, and community representatives – to figure out how to make the world more sustainable while keeping economies strong.
Tinubu didn’t travel alone. He brought some key people with him, including Ambassador Yusuf Tuggar (Foreign Affairs Minister), Femi Gbajabiamila (his Chief of Staff), and Dr. Abdullahi Ganduje (who leads Nigeria’s ruling party, the APC).
