BusinessDay CEO Apprentice Africa set to begin on 19 August 2019

L4l CEO Apprentice, Youth Entrepreneurship and Leadership Academy (YELA) 2024 kicks off on Monday 5th August 2024.

Teenagers make up a formidable part of any society, hence it is important to groom them positively because they are the future. This is exactly why BusinessDay, West Africa’s leading provider of business and financial intelligence, created a social initiative The CEO Apprentice Africa for young aspiring entrepreneurs within the ages 14 to 19 years.

BusinessDay’s CEO Apprentice which started in 2016, is a summer boot-camp where 50 selected teenagers would be taken through the various processes of developing business ideas. The participants would be thought a range of business practices such as how to develop business models, segment customers, and analyze the competition.

During the boot-camp, the participants would be in teams and tasked with developing new business ideas which they will eventually present in a sixty seconds elevator pitch. The business models will be examined by a select group of judges made up of successful entrepreneurs, CEOs, advocates, and business professionals.

The winning team will receive seed capital to develop their business idea.

Other activities include mentoring sessions, taekwondo classes, team collaboration (marshmallow challenge), shark tank viewing, and exclusive excursions to watch the close of market at The Nigerian Stock Exchange, a visit to the RISE AI LABS, and Andela Head Office.

This year’s CEO Apprentice will take place from the 19th to 24th of August at The Impact Hub, 7A  Milverton Road Ikoyi Lagos.

Applications are currently ongoing.

‘The CEO Apprentice 2018 was an experience I will carry with me for the rest of my life. The contributors were all leaders in their respective fields, and they taught me things that people would pay hundreds of thousands of Naira to learn. I find myself referring to the notes that I took during the sessions when I need advice. The connections I made during the one week sessions have proved invaluable thus far. I met someone that I would consider a close friend and a regular business partner. I also met met my mentor, Tosin Durotoye.

This year, I truly believe that the   are going to gain knowledge that will follow them for the rest of their lives, as well as form networks and connections that they will come to depend on later in their entrepreneurial journey – Susan Ugobu’.
