Speed violation is reported to be the major cause of the 2,532 road accidents crashes that occurred in the fourth quarter (Q4) of 2018, according to the road transport report released by the National bureau of Statistics (NBS).
On a year-on-year basis, it increased marginally by 1.7 percent to 2,532 accidents in Q4 2018 from 2,489 in the Q4 2017.
From the report, speed violation accounted for 52 percent of the total road crashes reported. Dangerous driving and wrongful overtaking followed closely as they both accounted for 9 percent and 8 percent of the total road crashes recorded respectively.
