Aminu Waziri Tambuwal, the Governor of Sokoto State, has formally received the letter conveying his emergence as Silverbird Man of the Year, 2019 for  his achievements in the areas of education, infrastructure development and job creation,

The Chief Creative Officer of Silverbird Communication, Jacob Akinyemi Johnson presented the letter of award to Tambuwal and congratulated the governor both on his recent victory at the Supreme Court and election as Chairman of the PDP GF, Special Adviser Media and Publicity said in a press statement Thursday.

The annual award by Silverbird was instituted about 14 years ago to celebrate the contributions of individuals, from diverse fields, who have impacted positively on the lives of Nigerians.

Previous winners include Aliko Dangote, Late Dora Akunyili,  Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, Peter Obi, Babatunde Fashola, and several others.

Receiving the letter from top management staff of the Silverbird Communication, Governor Tambuwal promised to keep providing dividends of democracy to the people of Sokoto state which earned him the award.

Tambuwal said he was particularly thrilled by the award which he described as credible because he was overwhelmingly voted for by members of the public.

Tambuwal, who is also the Chairman of the PDP Governors’ Forum (PDP-GF), explained that the state government has since set aside and started distributing N4b grant to some ordinary people of Sokoto State with a view to lifting them out of poverty.

The prestigious Silverbird Man of the Year for 2019 will be conferred on Tambuwal on Friday, February 28, 2020 at a ceremony slated to take place at Eko Hotel and Suites on Victoria Island, Lagos.

Tambuwal, who would take be honoured at the event, was nominated alongside several other individuals who that have contributed immensely to societal progress.

Nominees for the 2019 Silverbird Man of the Year Award include Seyi Makinde, Governor of Oyo State, for innovation in governance; Godwin Obaseki, Edo State Governor, for job creation, and Governor Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State for infrastructure development and education, Silverbird said.

Other nominees are Chris Ngige,  Minister of Labour and Employment, and Tony Elumelu, Chairman of Heirs Holdings, the United Bank for Africa, Transcorp and founder of The Tony Elumelu Foundation.
