Senate president, Buko- la Saraki, has assured that there would be no delay in the confirma- tion of ministerial nominees once the list is sent to the legislature by President Mu- hammadu Buhari.
There have been concerns in some quarters over last week’s June 21 adjournment by the Senate, with some analysts saying it would delay approval of ministerial list once it is sent by Buhari.
Although Ali Ndume, Senate leader, allayed fears by saying despite the ad- journment, the Senate would convene immediately a list was sent.
However, the immediate past Sen- ate minority leader and a strong member of Unity Fo-rum, George Akume, kicked against the recess, saying it was unnecessary.
Akume was of the opin- ion that the Red Chamber should had hit the ground running. Saraki, however, assured that bills from the execu- tive would be treated with dispatch as part of efforts to support the president to effect the positive change expected from his admin- istration by Nigerians, and pledged the cooperation of the National Assembly with the executive arm of government in accomplish- ing the programmes of the administration.
The Senate president said this while receiving Denys Gaver, French ambassador to Nigeria, who paid him a cour- tesy visit in his office, Tuesday.
