The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate (PTAD) is set to sanitize its Civil Service Pension payroll with the commencement of its verification exercise in North East Nigeria,
Disclosing the readiness of the Directorate to commence the exercise in North East, Sharon Ikeazor, Executive Secretary of PTAD said the Directorate is yet to finalise strategies for the verification of pensioners in Borno and Yobe States.
According to Ikeazor, the verification exercise in North- East would take place in the various capitals of the designated North East states of Adamawa, Taraba, Gombe and Bauchi states.
Ikeazor categorically stated that the verification exercise which would commence from November 28, will be used to sanitize government’s pension payroll.
“Apart from identifying ghost pensioners and putting a stop to fraudulent payments, the exercise has facilitated the restoration of monthly pension payments to genuine pensioners previously removed from the payroll, including those who had never been paid any pension or gratuity, some for over 10 years post retirement.
“PTAD is equally aware of sick pensioners and they are advised to contact PTAD at the centers to enable the mobile verification team reach their homes or hospitals for biometrics, she said”
The PTAD Executive Secretary while clarifying that the exercise is not a tedious one said all that the Pensioners are expected to come along with is all their necessary documents including the original and photocopies of their relevant retirement credentials for the exercise.
