The Acting Inspector-General of Police ( I-G), Mr Ibrahim Idris, has deployed Tactical Operation Unit, comprising Police Mobile Force and Counter-Terrorism Unit to Arepo and Ibafor in Ogun.

Information about the deployment is contained in a statement issued by the Force Spokesman, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Don Awunah in Abuja on Friday.

Awunah quoted the police boss as saying “the deployment will be backed-up by an Air Surveillance Team to flush out vandals and other criminal elements operating in the state.”

The I-G said the Nigeria Police Force would not watch any criminal group or groups take the law into their hands.

He authorised the Unit to deal decisively with anyone who constituted himself an enemy of the state and urged law-abiding citizens of the area to return home and go about their normal businesses.

In another development, the police had arrested one Aloysius Ebiniko, the alleged kingpin of the armed gang that abducted and murdered Col. Samaila
Inusa on March 27 in Kaduna.

A statement also issued by the Force noted that the arrest was made possible following credible technical intelligence employed by the police after a confessional statement by a member of a gang earlier arrested.

It stated that Ebiniko would soon be arraigned as other suspects arrested earlier in connection with the crime had been arraigned and remanded in prison custody. ( NAN)
