Prompt intervention by a combined team of Mobile Police personnel deployed around Tamburawa village in the outskirt of Kano metropolis averted what would have been another bloody Monday in the commercial city of Kano.
It took the police personnel several hours to peacefully dislodge a large procession of members of the Shiite Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN) who are hell bent of marching to Zaria, in violation of the outlawing of the organization by the Kaduna state government.
BusinessDay `s head of editorial operations in Kano, who was cut up in the procession along the Kano –Zaria Highway, observed that the procession had been terminated by the police.
Several rounds of live bullets were discharged into the air by the police to scare off the determined members of the marching to Zaria to mark their annual day of procession, normally observed by the Iranian backed group yearly.
Before the police came dispatch the procession several hundreds of motorists traveling on the Highway, who were visibly afraid, were forced to park on the highway from the Kano end of the road.
