A group of pensioners in Osun State, Forum of Contributory Pensioners, has appealed to Governor Rauf Aregbesola to pay their entitlements to ease the hardship majority of them are passing through.

Addressing newsmen in Osogbo, the two coordinators of the group, Samuel Adeosun and Gbadebo Adegboye, said members of the group were living from hand to mouth as a result of non-payment of their pensions, adding that on behalf of the group, about fifteen letters have been written to Governor Aregbesola without response from government.

Adegboye said: “We have to pathetically observe that, the Contributory Pensioners that are being deprived of their retirement benefits are now suffering from unimaginable degrees and dimensions of abject poverty.

“Arising from this unwholesome situations, our prayers and humble appeal are that the state government of Osun under the benevolent leadership of the governor, should graciously put sufficient funds into the scheme, being the shortfall of the state government’s counterpart funding, enough to cater for the Contributory Pensioners.

“This kind gesture by the state government will undoubtedly rescue us, the CPS pensioners, and their dependants from poverty, suffering and current life of deprivations, wants and penury.”

Appealing to government to release Bond Certificates to the PFAs of the pensioners, who had completed processing of their retirement papers since January 2015 till date, they urged government to also consider the payment of accrued interests on monthly Contributory pension deductions between October and December 2014, which were remitted only in July 2017, and remittance of monthly deductions since January 2015 till date with interests.
