The Southern Zone of the National Council of Muslim Youths Organisations (NACOMYO) has called on well-meaning individuals and players in the public sector to provide basic nutritional needs to Nigerians whose means of livelihood have been negatively impacted by measures taken to contain the spread of Coronavirus by the governments.
Abdul Mojeed Momoh, 1st National Vice President and Mustapha Balogun, zonal secretary of the group made the calls in a statement made available to newsmen in Benin City.
Momoh, also, announced the suspension of the group’s 8th Dawah and other activities earlier scheduled to hold in Ogun state.
He said the suspension of the Dawah and other activities was in compliance with governments directives.

“We commend members of the organised private sector for their kindhearted donations in the fight against the pandemic. We urged other well-to-do individuals to toe the same path.
“They should provide food items at both the state and local government levels.
“While appreciating the efforts of other stakeholders who are not in government, we urge them and other well-meaning individuals and public sector players to focus on the provision of basic nutritional needs of citizens whose means of livelihood have been impacted negatively by the drastic measures taken by the government.
“We at NACOMYO Southern Zone are also ready to work with different state and local governments in the South West, South-South and South-East, particularly in the areas of enlightenment and provision of stimulus packages to the needy so no one is left to suffer as a result”, he said.
The group which commended President Muhammadu Buhari for the lockdown on Abuja, Lagos and Ogun States for 14 days noted that the government action was a right step to stop the further spread of the virus to other states in the country.
The group reminded its members across the states to take precautionary measures as advised by the appropriate medical body seriously.
It also urged Nigerians to corporate with the government by keeping to the directives issued, especially stay-at-home order.
Meanwhile, a Benin based cleric and President of World Christian Fellowship, Okoduwa Aiorkpa has advised government at all levels to extend support to religious leaders in facilitating prayers and fasting programmes to complement government’s efforts in the fight against Convid-19.
Aiorkpa stressed the need for spiritual warfare in the fight against the dreaded Convid-19 pandemic in the country.
He noted that government steps to mitigate the novel CONVID-19 would not be adequate without spiritual intervention particularly prayers of the Christian community and its leaders.
