According to the minister’s special assistant, Sunny Onyeukwu, In a bid to explore common grounds of co-operation aimed at facilitating technology acquisition and transfer, the Minister of Science and Technology, Dr. Ogbonnaya Onu, has embarked on a trip to United Kingdom and Vienna, Austria. The trip which will last for a week is aimed at strengthening the role of science and technology in the nation’s development process.
In the United Kingdom, the minister, he said would visit the reputable Surrey Satellite Technology Limited at Guildford with a view to exploring common grounds of co-operation aimed at facilitating technology acquisition and transfer.
He is also expected to meet with the Nigerian business community with the aim of acquainting them with the efforts of the Buhari Administration to strengthen the role of science and technology in the nation’s development process.
While in Vienna, Austria, the minister will attend the high profile Foreign Direct Investment Conference of the United Nations Industrial Development Organization (UNIDO).
’Dr. Onu will be accompanied on the trip by the Director General of the Raw Materials Research and Development Council, Dr. Hussaini Ibrahim and his counterpart in the Nigerian Space Research and Development Agency, Prof. Saidu Mohammed,” Onyeukwu further said.
