The Nigerian Governors’ Forum (NGF) has described the victory of the former deputy governor of Adamawa State, Bala Ngilari, at the Federal High Court, Abuja, which ordered his immediate swearing in as governor, as a plus for the Nigerian judiciary.

The Forum also harped on the need for politicians to seek redress in resolving political disagreements in the courts.

NGF, in a statement signed by its director general, Asishana Okauru, called on the judiciary to remain steadfast, bold and independent in anticipation of several other electoral cases as the 2015 general elections draw near.

“We praise the new governor for standing firm and remaining undaunted while the case lasted and charge him to be inclusive in his administrative style and ensure the delivery of true democracy dividends to the people of Adamawa State.

“Most importantly, we call on other stakeholders to be mindful of potential pitfalls caused by over-zealousness as this would impact negatively on our thriving democracy”, the statement read.
