Lafarge Africa Plc has distributed 155 new trucks to its customers to enhance their logistics and boost market presence.
The trucks which were allocated in a ceremony in Lagos State are targeted at enhancing the company’s long-term partnerships with its customers.
“These trucks are more than just vehicles, they are designed to enhance our supply chain, and strengthen our market presence,” said Gbenga Onimowo, the commercial director of Lafarge Africa Plc.
He added: “This is not just an investment in logistics; it’s an investment in our shared vision for progress and sustainable growth.”
The operational significance of the initiative was highlighted during the event, with the trucks expected to facilitate the timely delivery of products across the country.

Osaze Aghatise, logistics director of Lafarge Africa represented by Ogbonna Arua, head of logistics projects said, “With these 155 trucks, we are equipping our customers to deliver Lafarge products with greater efficiency, ensuring reliability and excellence in service delivery across the nation.”
The initiative was well-received by Lafarge’s distribution partners. Distributors as Abiodun Akinleye of Abiodun Akinleye Nigeria Enterprises, a long-standing Lafarge partner, expressed enthusiasm, assuring of a better use of the vehicle.
“This initiative will help us expand our market reach and grow our businesses. With Lafarge’s support, we can significantly increase our capacity—from handling 5,000 or 10,000 tons monthly to potentially 20,000 tons. The results will undoubtedly be evident.”
Similarly, Abolaji Akigbogun of Boatan Ventures shared how the trucks address key challenges in his business. “For a while, I struggled to meet customer demand due to a lack of logistics support, which led to lost orders. With this initiative, I’m confident it will empower me to grow, prevent order losses, and stabilize my operations. I deeply appreciate Lafarge’s efforts in supporting businesses like mine.”
Amid surging demand for cement nationwide, manufacturers are actively working to resolve logistical challenges in cement distribution. In the first half of 2024, Dangote Cement deployed 300 CNG-powered trucks, with plans to scale the fleet to 1,500 vehicles.
