Kwara Governor urged to appoint more women into cabinet

A call has gone to the Kwara State governor, Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to engage more women in his cabinet in order to have an effective process of policy making.
to assist women in building capacity to enable them tackle multifaceted challenges facing them and reduce poverty in the society.
Aisha Ahman – Pategi, an entrepreneur and All Progressives Congress (APC) stalwart, equally stressed the need for the new administration to empower women economically.
Ahman-Pategi, however, urged to assist women in building capacity to enable them tackle multifaceted challenges facing them and reduce poverty in the society.
The Convener of a group, ‘The Original Women’, stated this while fielding questions from journalists at an iftar organized for women in Kwara State to discuss the challenges confronting them and train them on how to accept their roles in the way nature endowed.
She advocated for appointment of more women into various political positions in the new administration to enable them contribute their quota to the growth and development of the society.
According to her, women in the state are struggling and they were marginalized, saying that the society will be better if they are properly engaged.
She said: “Kwara women are suffering, women are bedrock of the society, if they get it right, society will get it right because they are the one that raise the future leaders.
“I am not against women being in position of power, a woman can aspire to be governor or president but they must accept their roles by nature by standing by men, it shouldn’t be about struggling with men”.
Ahman-Pategi stressed the need to have a paradigm shift in the state by changing women’s perspective, ensuring accurate thinking and information for women for them to look into the same direction of changing the society for better and raising the future leaders of the country in the best way.
Speaking on the rationale behind the establishment of ‘The Original Women’, the Convener explained that it was aimed at bringing women together to discuss the root of challenges facing them and address them to raise the true leaders of the country.
” The rationale behind the establishment of ‘The Original Women’ is to bring women together to rub minds and find solutions to women challenges. Because each time women gathered they are always discussing their problems, home in shambles, relationship challenges. So there is need to sit down to think about how it can be solved “
“There is no woman one meet that won’t have a story to tell and the worst thing is that women are their own problem, because they create problem with other women.
“Women are marginalised and our voices are not heard. Why is it like that is because more negative things are being discussed in women gathering that positive,” she explained.
Also speaking, the Co-Convener of the forum, Funmi Adefilo Osiegbu, stressed the need for women to return to the drawing board to raise the family in a proper way, support their husbands and be part of policy making to have a better society.
