Imo: Again, Supreme Court adjourns

Trial starts in $11 Billion lawsuit threatening Nigeria’s economy
Again, the cross appeal filed by the sacked Imo State governor, Emeka Ihedioha, could not go ahead on Monday.
This followed the call by counsel to Ihedioha, Chief Kanu Agabi (SAN), who asked for short adjournment to enable him go through processes served on him in court this morning.
When proceedings resumed Monday, Kanu told the court that the the respondents’ reply to the applicants’ motion was served on them in the court this morning. He requested for a short adjournment to enable them go through it.
Counsel to Uzodinma, Damian Dodo (SAN), said the applicants served him their processes on Friday last week, hence the reply on Monday.
He said he was prepared to go ahead with the case if the court permitted it.
However, chairman of the seven man panel and Chief Justice of Nigeria, Ibrahim Muhammad, adjourned till March 3 (Tuesday) for continuation.
The Supreme Court had on January 14, removed Ihedioha as Imo State governor and ordered that Senator Uzodinma be immediately inuagurated to take over the reigns of power in the state.
The Supreme Court after computing the excluded votes in the 388 polling units came to the conclusion that Uzodinma and APC scored majority of lawful votes in the March 9, 2019, governorship election in the state.
In the unanimous judgment delivered by Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun, the apex court ordered that the certificate of return issued to Ihedioha be  withdrawn and a new one be issued by INEC to Uzodinma.
However, dissatisfied with the apex court decision, Ihedioha through his counsel returned to the same court with a request that the judgment be reviewed and the judgment set aside.
