IKODASS unveils made-in-Ikorodu Marketplace Directory to boost community development

The Ikorodu Development Association (IKODASS) has announced its unveiling of made in Ikorodu Marketplace Directory aiming at positioning and promoting made- in- Ikorodu products and services to boost the community and economic development.

The unveiling took in place on the 11th, Monday, November at the ikorodu Town, in commemoration of the Ikorodu Oga Day an annual festival themed ‘Cultural Resolution, A Necessity For Socio-Economic and Political Empowerment’.

 Ikorodu Town is located in the north-east and the second most populous Local Government Area in Lagos state with a population estimated at about 3 million people. However, the town in Lagos has witnessed economic in recent years.

“Made- in Ikorodu Marketplace Directory was conceived to become an annual and strategic one – stop business and marketing publication and online platform, showing products and services (Made- in-Ikorodu) within and around Ikorodu community to resident (locally) and outsiders (globally) alike,” said Peju Akinyemi, publisher made-in-Ikorodu Marketplace Directory.

Akinyemi said that with a view to promoting the patronage of Ikorodu- based products and services to a wide range of audience, within and outside the community.

“It is aimed at discouraging residents of the community from travelling far to access products and services that are readily and abundantly available within and around the community,” He said.

Meanwhile the development of the directory also serves as a medium of connecting ‘foreign’ products and services with their targets residents, within and around Ikorodu division of Lagos state. On the long run, the platform will serve as a strategic reference material and catalyst, towards promoting Ikorodu into robust, flourishing and economically prosperous community.

“While we do not pretend that this publication has captured all products and services currently available within community, we must stress that, this publication is not an end in itself, rather it a work in progress among other steps that will further position this community into an investment destination among other communities in Lagos state,” said Ganiyu Abiru, chairman Ikodass.

Abiru, said that making this event will give more opportunities for small and large businesses stating that many people in the community are not aware of the huge business opportunities; they are still ignorantly travelling out of Ikorodu.

  “Ikorodu has been known for both social and economic pillar and the community is compounding and is accepting economic development. We assure that Ikorodu will structure its prominence that it has taken,” said Bayo Sodade, special adviser, economic planning and budget, Lagos State.
