ICPC to arraign former Zamfara governor, others over N325m misappropriation

Former governor of Zamfara State, Ahmed Sani, Hashim Dikko, Development Management Limited and HAD Nigeria Limited are expected to be arraigned today (Thursday) before a Zamfara State High Court over allegations of misappropriating a total sum of N324,820,141.24 by the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission (ICPC).

In the charge filed before the court and obtained by BusinessDay, indicated that the former governor, in November 2006, did commit an offence of spending the sum of N20 million purportedly on assistance to INEC, out of the N1 billion additional budgetary allocation Zamfara State House of Assembly gave for the repair of collapsed Gusau Dam and settlement of the victims of the said dam, which was obtained through bank loan.

He was also alleged to have spent the sum of N10 million purportedly on donation, N43,008,000 on surveillance of guests, N21.5 million on settlement of publication equipment, N64,332,734 on sponsorship of government officials to hajj, N32,646,286 on settlement of accommodation.

In the 19-count charge preferred against him, he was also alleged to have spent the sum of N15.8 million on furniture allowance, N29.2 million on purchase of 2000 Nanfang motorcycles, N23.9 million on payment to automobile company, N14 million on payment of auditing of account, the sum of N14.2 million on Ramadan feeding, N14.5 million on purchase of four 406 Peugeot, N36 million on settlement of leave grant for teachers, and others.
