I am the most qualified candidate for PDP national chairman – Daniel

Gbenga Daniel, others to speak at 2022 SDNON summit

Gbenga Daniel, a former governor of Ogun State and one of National Chairmanship aspirants of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), has said that he was the only qualified and experienced aspirant among others. Daniel, who made the claim in Umuahia, Abia State, while canvassing for the votes of Abia delegates to the December, 9th Convention of PDP in Abuja, said it was because of his dexterity and experience in governance that he defeated an incumbent governor in his state.

He said that those contesting alongside him were inexperienced, adding that if a candidate from South West emerges the National Chairman, South-East would produce the Vice President of the Country come 2019. The National Chairmanship aspirant noted that for the past 40 years, executive position in governance had eluded the South-East and that time was ripe for the zone to clinch the position by voting him from South-West.

He revealed that what led to the failure of the party in the past was that members were not able to resolve the problem facing the party. “We are trying to restore power to the people and say no to impunity. The decision we will take on 9th December will make or mar our party.

Pray that we will make the right decision. A vote for South-West for the chairman is a vote for Executive position for South-East. A vote for South-South is a rejection of your position,” said Daniel. Daniel noted that the decision of the party to zone the presidency to the North was a good omen for the party. “Our Party has been reawakened in the North. In South-South and South-East our party is strong, PDP is the only national party in Nigeria,” he enthused.

“Those aspiring alongside were appointed in positions but I was elected. They do not understand the grassroots. You should vote for me,” he further said. In his response, Johnson Onuigbo, the Abia PDP chairman said God was interested in PDP. He described Daniel as a man of immense experience, noting that it was true that PDP was strong in South-East and South-South but not in South-West.

“The position is zoned to Southern Nigeria. We will go to the Convention and slug it out. No imposition, no impunity in PDP again. Abia people are dependable allies. We are with you. God knows who will be the National Chairman. If we get it right now, the party will clinch the Presidency come 2019,” Onuigbo said.
