The governing council of Federal Universities have been exempted from the dissolution of Boards of Federal Government Parastatals, Agencies, Institutions and Government-Owned Companies which had been earlier announced, for the time being.

President Muhammadu Buhari had in a statement on the 16 of July announced the dissolution of Governing Boards of all Federal Parastatals, Agencies and Institutions.

The statement had said until the boards are reconstituted, Chief Executive Officers of the affected parastatals, agencies and institutions are to refer all matters requiring the attention of their boards to the President, through the Permanent Secretaries of their supervising ministries.

The dissolution had  not affected Federal Executive Bodies listed in the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, but covered administrative or technical committees and other similar organs established by the dissolved boards.

A statement by Presidential Spokesman Femi Adesina on Saturday announced the maintenance of status-quo of the universities board staying that already “All Vice Chancellors of Federal Universities have been informed of this exemption through a circular issued by the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Danladi Kifasi”
