In life everyone has his or her own money personalities which differ from other peoples own. Most a times, it may affect or clash with your spouse. Your financial values and habits may even disagree occasionally with your partner. These differences don’t have to ruin a relationship, with understanding and effort, it’s possible to work through them and have a successful relationship.

Sometimes, most people don’t start out on the right foot with money in their relationships; partners go to the extent of making some money decisions that is greatly affecting their relationship with their partner. Not telling your spouse the truth about your finance: It has always been an issue where most couple lies to each other about money. In a recent time survey conducted also indicates that almost one-half of people lie to their spouse when it comes to money. That’s a big deal. Not only can lying about finances lead to troubles with money down the road, but it can also be an indication of other problems in a relationship.

This so-called financial unfaithfulness points to non-financial problems in a relationship, including issues of trust and control. A relationship without trust, or a relationship in which there are control issues because one partner is hiding information from the other, is not a healthy relationships. This attitude is often one of the symptoms of larger, and more devastating, problems in a marriage.

Not having achievable goal: since both of you always lie to one another about money. It can lead to misunderstandings and mistakes. One great mistake about finance in marriage, is not communicating effectively with your spouse about your next steps financially. If both of you are working toward different goals, sometimes most couples don’t get to anywhere cause it always frustrating because neither of you felt you weren’t getting anywhere. So, those lines of communication are vital if you want to progress.

On top of that, you need to have shared goals. Your relationship should be about working together to achieve the things you both want. If you are constantly at odds about what should happen next, you will have serious difficulties when it comes to money, and if you plan together for the future, the better for both of you comes to a fulfilling life as a couple.

Having no plan to pay back debt:  In a relationship,  debt can cause a lot of stress. When you have debt, you lack financial freedom. This spills over into other areas of your life as well. You don’t have the resources to do what you want because they are being diverted to interest payments. Moreover, it’s easy to feel out of control when you have little say in where your money is going. Debt reduces your ability to control your own finances.

All of this stress weighs on people. It’s easy to break your relationship with your loved ones when you are anxious about debt. It’s even worse when you don’t have a plan to pay it off. If you are stuck in a position where you don’t know what will happen next, or how you will pay off your debt, it can strain your relationship, as well as your finances.

You can ease some of the pressure by creating a plan to pay off your debt. As a couple, discuss about your goal to pay down your debt. Talk about what you can do, together, to pay off your debts and improve your finances. You’ll feel better about your situation, and about your relationship. As you continue to make progress in paying down your debt, you are likely to repair your relationship and make progress in that  area as well.

However, many people see money as a reason for breakups. Meanwhile money is an emotional issue, and how you feel about your finances can influence how you feel in your relationships. The way you and your partner handle money can provide insights into the way you interact with each other. It’s amazing how often the way you deal with money reflect the way you deal with your partner.
