FG, Germany to set up center for jobs, migration, reintegration -

The Nigerian creative industry is currently under utilised considering the level of creativity.

The Federal Government and Germany on Wednesday entered into an agreement to set up a Nigerian–German Center for jobs, Migration and Reintegration. The agreement signed by the Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment and the German Deutsche Gesellschaft Fur Internationale Zusammenarbeit GMBH (GIZ) is geared towards promoting regular migration and supporting voluntary returnees in social and economic reintegration between both countries.

Bolaji Adebiyi, Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Labour and Employment, who signed the letter of intent on behalf of Nigeria, described the intervention as timely and observed that several youths have lost their lives in the process of attempting to migrating to Europe through Libya amongst other dangerous routes.

According to him, “the issue of irregular migration has become a very worrisome issue of concern to the Federal Government of Nigeria. It is really time that we are making effort through this partnership to address irregular migration and reintegration of voluntary returnees.”

Adebiyi who affirmed the Federal Government’s commitment to the successful implementation of the agreement, said: “You can be very sure that on our part, we are strongly committed in terms of implementation and we will offer whatever it takes to ensure the successful implementation of this agreement. Information is pivotal, that is why the setting up of a centre that can help in that regard.”
