The Fashion Designers Association of Nigeria (FADAN), has concluded its plan to expand its empowerment scheme to primary schools, vocational centres, technical and non-technical secondary schools in Nigeria as a way to encourage entrepreneur skill.
Funmi Ajila-Oladipo, president of thee Association stated that FADAN equally promised to take the association to a level it has never gotten outlining its strategic plan to empower young designers and make the sky their starting point.
In a bid to reposition and foster the fashion industry, FADAN has voted a set of new executive officers to govern and pilot the association’s affair for the next three years.
Funmi Ajila Oladipo was returned unopposed by the group as National President while Yusuf Kolawole Kuddus replaced Wunmi Oluwadare as first Vice President, while Tessy Ojibodu emerged as the National Secretary.
The election was conducted by Stella Awo with Delegates from Lagos, Abuja,Delta witnessing it.
Evelyn Okere ,the newly national publicity secretary pointed out how certain executive members of the association were not functional and this made the work load a burden on the shoulder of Funmi Ajila Oladipo the returned President. “She needed a crop of executive that will be ready to work tirelessly looking at the bulk of work the association is involved with,” she explained.
The founder of FADAN, Shade Thomas Fahm reminded the association to pursue love and oneness that they always practiced, adding that as humans love and encouragement are basic needs that cannot be neglected.
Fahm admonished its members to be more creative with its design and clothing as there is a need for Nigerians to patronize our fabrics, adding that government should invest in the fashion industry as it will improve the economy and unemployed graduate roaming the streets.
She disclosed that some developed countries like Italy, Brazil,US had benefitted from the fashion industry that Nigeria could equally benefit from it, citing the need for a fashion hub to enhance creativity.
