National chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ali Modu Sheriff has charged the All Progressives Congress (APC)-led Federal Government to stop passing the buck and face governance rather than blame the opposition party for the nation’s economic woes.

Specifically, the PDP chairman expressed regret that rather than deliver on its electioneering promises, the APC was still blaming PDP for the nation’s woes 11 months after assumption of office.

He was reacting to a statement credited to President Muhammadu Buhari on Monday wherein he held the PDP’s 16-year reign responsible for the nation’s prevailing economic woes and said the party failed to save for the rainy day.

Similarly, APC national leader, Bola Tinubu, had also blamed the PDP for the ongoing fuel scarcity across the country.

Speaking while inaugurating four committees of the party at its headquarters on Tuesday in Abuja, Sheriff said the party shares in the pains of Nigerians, assuring that the party will do better if it regains the position of ruling party in 2019.

“I will like to advise the leaders of APC to stop blaming the PDP. We are now the opposition party. We will reposition our party to show Nigerians that we can do better”, he said.

The four committees include that of National Convention, Reconciliation, Zoning and Finance.

The National Convention Committee has Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike as Chairman, Taraba State Governor Dairus Ishiaku as Deputy Chairman and the Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi as Secretary.

Similarly, the Reconciliation Committee has Bayelsa State Governor Seriake Dickson as Chairman and Senator Ibrahim Mantu as Deputy Chairman while the Finance Committee has Gombe State Governor Ibrahim Dankwambo as Chairman and Senator Godswill Akpabio as Deputy Chairman.

In the same vein, the Zoning Committee has Akwa-Ibom State Governor Emmanuel Udom as Chairman, Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose as Deputy Chairman and Kelechi Igwe as Secretary.

Meanwhile, the senator representing Abia North in the National Assembly, Mao Ohuabunwa, (PDP, Abia North) has urged the Federal Government to apologise to Nigerians for the hardship occasioned by fuel scarcity.

Ohuabunwa told newsmen in Abuja that it was members of the APC that championed mass protests when the previous government attempted to deregulate the sector.

He said that if the deregulation had been allowed to go through, Nigerians would not be going through the hardship they were currently experiencing as a result of the lingering fuel scarcity.

The lawmaker therefore called on the Federal Government to not only look for a way to ameliorate the suffering of the people but to find lasting solution to the problems.
